Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue
Foster Care Program
Our
Foster Care Program provides temporary homes for companion animals; usually cats
and dogs. The reasons for this need vary, but the basic idea is to provide
care to an animal until it can be adopted into a wonderful forever home.
About
being a Foster Parent
-
Ideally,
foster parents will be dues paying members of Wags and Whiskers.
-
Foster
parents must be 21 years old or live with a 21 year old party that will take
responsibility for the fostered animal(s).
-
Foster
families must own their own home or, if renting, have written approval from
their landlord.
-
Foster
families are responsible for all expenses, except medical, connected with
the care of the animal(s) they accept on behalf of Wags and Whiskers.
-
Foster
families assume the risk of exposing their own pets to foster animals that
may be harboring an illness.
-
Every
effort will be made to perform a home visit before approval.
-
Ideally,
foster homes for dogs/puppies have a fenced yard.
-
Ideally,
foster homes for cats/kittens have a room where the pet(s) can be
confined.
-
Ideally,
all foster animals will be kept indoors.
-
Foster
parents are required to sign a contract for every animal they accept.
These
are things that need to be done for animals that are fostered:
-

responsibility to be sure it is done.
