Summer Driving
Summer driving may involve higher temperatures over a period of time that both the vehicle and driver must withstand. Here are a few Tips:
Have a reputable service provider check your radiator and hoses for leaks and cracks. Make sure the water pump and thermostat work properly to pump and control the flow of coolant to maintain the best operating temperature for your engine. Engines typically run hotter during the summer months.
Maintain the vehicle manufacturer recommended air pressure for your vehicle tires. Tires often run at higher operating temperatures during summer. Safe tire operation is dependent on proper air pressure. Always maintain a minimum of 3/32nds of tread depth on your tires.
Avoid fatigue while driving. Warmer temperatures can cause drowsiness. Always rest when not fully alert while operating a motor vehicle.
Carry water for drinking at all times in your vehicle. You never know when, where, or for how long you may become stranded. Summer temperatures can cause dehydration very quickly, especially in elderly drivers and young children.
