This course is designed to get you over the speedbumps and around the tricky turns on the Information Superhighway. You'll be using some software (a browser) to retrieve and view information, and you'll learn to use email. It may seem hard to you now, but really, you're already using a browser--that's what you're doing to read this lesson.

So sit back, relax, and let's find out more about the Web!

We have four main goals for you in this course:

  1. Student will be able to discuss the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web.
  2. Student will be able to use a browser to navigate to websites.
  3. Student will learn the basics of email, will establish an email account, and will send an email to the instructor.
  4. Student will learn how to use search engines for effective research on the Web.

We think that by the end of the course, these things will be a snap for you. So, please click on Unit 1 above and let's get started.
