Unit 4 - Future Internet Trends
ECommerce
Handheld
and other wireless connectivity
Other
trends

So now that you've gotten through all that,
what's going to happen in the future? Will you be able to keep up?
The good news is, you've just taken the hardest step in the process, which is
doing the switch from a paper-based mindset to learning to use the resources of
the Web. Everything else will be a piece of cake!
Now, having said that, let's explore some of the things that loom in the
future. Please note that "future" in terms of the Internet means
anywhere from two weeks to two years.
I have organized this material in to three main classes, which are e-commerce,
handhand and other kinds of wireless connectivity, and other trends (here's
where I cheat and throw in everything but the kitchen sink). The terms relating
to these trends will be explained in their sections, as will their imminence
and what you have to do to hop on the bandwagon of this trend.
In each section, I've included several links to articles of interest on the
trend(s), as well as the first paragraph of each article. If you find that a
link is no longer valid, don't worry, because you'll be able to search out many
other sources of information on each trend with your new sleuthing skills. I
won't ask any questions in the quiz that pertain to individual pages, but only
on the trend itself.
Thanks for taking this time with us, and we hope you learned something of
interest and/or use to you for the future. The Internet is here to stay. If
anything, it will get more prevalent (some would say invasive) in our lives. So
good for you, for taking the time to get acquainted with this new tool!
Please don't hesitate to contact me
if you have any questions, now or in the future.
When you've completed this unit, please take
the Unit 4 quiz, and you're all done with the course.
