July 16-19, 2012
(4 days) ![]() Leave the Havasu
heat behind for a few days of delightful cool! We will travel to Merced the
first day, overnight, then enter the West gate into Yosemite National Park, one
of the most picturesque of all national parks. Once in Yosemite Valley
(elevation 4,000) we will take a 2-hour Valley Floor tour on a 60-passenger open
vehicle where you will have unobstructed views of the water falls and the
glacier-carved granite mountains while a National Park Ranger narrates.
Immediately after our tour, our charter bus will take us to the historic Ahwahnee Hotel for lunch in the fabulous dining room with huge granite pillars
and sugar pine beams. The Ahwahnee Hotel was built in 1927 and the dining room
is its “crown jewel”. After lunch,
there will be time to enjoy the lobby and sitting room of the hotel as well as
the outside patios. We’ll leave Yosemite Valley for our lodging just outside the
West gate where the balcony of each room is just steps away from the untamed
Merced River. The next day we will re-enter Yosemite, visit the Pioneer Historic
Center and have lunch in the historic Wawona Hotel (1879) before leaving the
park for our last night in Bakersfield. $25 to reserve.
Included: Transportation, lodging, all admissions, Valley Floor tour, 3
breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners. |
