The cooling for the high power rectifiers for the Anodizing tanks was being accomplished by a series of gate valves which would be opened or closed manually to regulate the temperature. The current maintenance staff considered that acceptable until condensation caused the rectifiers to short out on several occasions to frequent for them to pass off as a typical failure. Chilled water would be blended with the heated water from the rectifiers to maintain a temperature above the dew-point to avoid condensation.
