Wooden slats were used to protect the product as it received its final wrap before being put on the truck. It was determined that significant savings can be obtained by reducing the size of the wood. Smaller pieces were obtained and tested. It was found that when the smaller pieces were placed in the magazine, the pusher that fed the wood out to the fingers would kick the wood sideways. I developed a pneumatically activated arm to stabilize the wood until the fingers could grab it.

I designed and welded this together myself. All of the material that I used came from the scrap pile.
The clamp-on design allowed the attaching points to be adjusted to where ever they needed to be to allow proper travel and positioning.
The fingers of the gripper can be seen - (Center Left) of the bottom feed area of the hopper
