Our love story starts in 1988 when we met while we were fire fighters for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. We dated for almost 5 years while Gwen finished her college education and Marcus continued to pursue his fire fighting career. We finally married in 1993.
Gwen now works for the County Office of Education as the Outdoor Education/Science Coordinator. This is a picture of the display she put together for the county fair last year for the Outdoor Education School. If you want to find out more about the School or the Camp, visit the website Gwen has put together for them at www.lcoe.org.
Marcus works for the County Office of Education for the school year as well as a special education school bus driver, but his heart remains in fighting fire. During the summer he works for the U.S. Forest Service. This is a picture from a couple years ago of a control burn (yes, they wanted to burn down the house) he participated in.
Here are pictures of Marcus' station (Laufman) and the girls with his fire engine.
If
there are any doubts this is a dry fire season, well. . . Here is Honey Lake
(that
is NOT water you are looking at)
