North Country Calming Massage
This massage is a light soothing session that relaxes and promotes wellness throughout your muscular system. A calming massage is a favorite of those not wanting deep work that can cause soreness. A light massage is also beneficial for clients that may have sensitive skin, or conditions where deep work would not be indicated, such as Osteopororis, or if the client is on certain medications, like asprin therapy or some hormones that could cause an increased risk of bruising, or those on large doses of Cortisones.

A light massage is ideal for reducing stress, high blood pressure, and simply feeling good. This massage can also be beneficial by relaxing and softening those muscles, which in turn help increase joint flexibility and range of motion. Massage also releases endorphins - amino acids that are the bodies natural pain killer. Studies indicate that massage can reduce anxiety, depression and helps you sleep more soundly.
1 hour- $50.00  (Option 1)

Therapeutic Massage

Deep Tissue Massage:

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.

Trigger Point Therapy:

Trigger points are areas of tenderness in a muscle. There are two basic types of trigger points: active and latent.

Active trigger points cause muscular pain and will refer pain and tenderness to another area of the body when pressure is applied. Latent trigger points only exhibit pain when compressed, they do not refer pain to other areas of the body. Latent trigger points are believed to be one of the causes of stiff joints and restricted range of motion.

Trigger points have several causes. Some common causes of trigger points can occur from birth trauma, an injury sustained in a fall or accident, poor posture, or overexertion.

The purpose of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits. After several treatments, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and circulation, flexibility and coordination are improved.

Sports Massage:
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in particular sport or physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have this type of massage, it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. A combination of techniques are used. Facilitated stretching is a common technique that helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Cupping Massage:
Cupping is a subtle but powerful therapy that works by
creating suction and negative pressure.
The strong vacuum will mimic the rolling action of deep tissue massage without the discomfort. The movement may be long for lengthening muscle tissue, or circular and stimulating for stubborn knots and areas of rigid tissue. Cupping is used to drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles and stimulate the peripheral nervous system. On a deeper therapeutic level, cupping is very beneficial for many conditions such as high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, chronic headache, fibromyalgia and neuralgia. Contracted, congested muscle tissue will soften quickly with only a few minutes.  The skin will turn very red with strong cupping, indicating that the circulation has been brought to the surface. The sensation is truly indescribable! Clients often describe a deep warmth, and a tingling sensation long after the treatment has ended. This method can be integrated into any of the therapeutic sessions.

CranioSacral Therapy
Can you think of any form of life that does not express itself as motion? All healthy living tissue breathes with a motion of life. The rhythm of our heart beating, the rhythm of our breathing patterns and according to Dr. William Sutherland and Dr. John Upledger there exists another type of body rhythm. This rhythm is a subtler one that can be palpated by sensitive hands. The rhythm’s subtle movements involve a network of interrelated tissues and fluids at the core of the body; including cerebrospinal fluid (the 'sap in the tree'), the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system and the sacrum.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle approach that is believed to alleviate a range of sensory, motor or neurological disorders. CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch manual approach that is also believed to enhance the body’s natural healing capabilities. You remain fully dressed on the treatment table for approximately one hour. The therapist places a nickel’s worth of pressure on various parts of your body (head, neck, hips, sacrum and feet). You can drift into a calm retreat while your body begins to heal itself. For nearly 30 years it has been shown to be effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and loss of function.

“Your Inner Physician and You” by John Upledger, D.O. (North Atlantic Books, Berkeley, CA, and UI Enterprises, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 1997) describes CranioSacral Therapy in greater detail and offers a number of case histories.

Raindrop Technique
Nine powerful Therapeutic Grade Aromatherapy Essential Oils are dropped like "little raindrops" and massaged into the spine relieving muscular tension and stress in the body. This procedure originates from an ancient Lakota Indian Healing Technique adapted by D. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils. The Essential Oils enhance the systems of the body and deeply energizes and detoxifies the body as well as balances the electrical frequency of the body.

The therapeutic grade essential oils used support the immune and nervous system and are designed specifically for topical application. Raindrop Technique® was developed as a result of research indicating that many forms of spinal misalignments are caused by muscle spasms due to bacteria and viruses originating in the spine and the tissues along the spine. This session is excellent for lower back pain, back pain, scoliosis, migraines, headaches, stress relief, and to detox the body. Raindrop Technique® is a very relaxing massage during which your sense of smell will be stimulated with the variety of therapeutic aromatherapy essential oils.

A wonderful form of alternative healing is the use of Aromatherapy essential oils on the body either in massage or applied in specific locations on the body. Essential Oils are the lifeblood of the plant with very similar chemical structure to human blood, which gives them the unique ability to penetrate cell membranes. Essential Oils are subtle, volatile, concentrated liquids distilled from plants, flowers, trees and roots. Therapeutic grade essential oils are oxygenating and help transport nutrients to the cells of our body, helping us to maintain optimum health and well being. When topically applied to the body, essential oils can travel throughout the body in a matter of minutes. Essential Oils (the lifeblood of the plant) and human blood share several common properties - the oils support the body's natural defenses and assist in maintaining normal cellular regeneration. Therapeutic essential oils support the immune, circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, nervous system, and other body systems in the human body and are high in antioxidants. Only labeled AFNOR Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils have this therapeutic ability because all of the chemical constituents are still present after the distillation process. Young Living Essential Oils are of the highest quality. You can read more about the benefits of Essential Oils as well as order them by visiting: https://www.youngliving.org/rmhollenbeck

This procedure is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, those with high blood pressure, and asthma, as the elimination of toxins can be very powerful.

As the client is placed into a myriad of Yoga stretches that flow into one another, the therapist kneads and compresses the muscles, while intermittently applying acupressure. Deep rhythmic breathing creates a meditative state of mind, while revitalizing the organs and tissues. The EBB and FLOW of the Thai massage experience gives forth a greater sense of balance to the mind, body and spirit—the true meaning of holistic healing.
