This page was last updated: November 11, 2002 , "Why are you casting magic missile? There is nothing to attack here." 7/15/00 The first task at hand is dealing with the 4 goblins that are in this room. We quickly decide upon a masterful plan. Dimak, Mak'era, and Dirst will each target one of the 4 and Tandorin will sneak up on the fourth using his masterful stealth capabilities. As soon as he attacks his target the rest of us will unleash our own hell on the targets. Mylena and Lylia will run for the stairs once the preemptive strike is released and head for Margaret. Ah, the best laid plans of Druas' and Zephyrs...! The whole plan falls to pieces as the fates curse us with fumbling hands. Tandorin fumbles, Mak'era misses her mark, Dirst fails to cast his spell, but alas Dimak's trusty lightning bolt hits its mark, but to no avail... The alarm is raised and the wounded goblin runs to get the master Drakonian. As the battle ensues our luck changes and we are able to bring our second attacks in to kill off the remaining goblins, but it's Dimak's turn to fumble and his magical staff is rendered inert for the next 5 minutes! The next 10 minutes are difficult ones as the last two goblins are killed by Dimak and Mylena, and then all of us struggle to find and smite the Drakonian leader who has become invisible. Thanks to Dirst's quick thinking he is able to hold back the reinforcements using his sanctuary spell, and thankfully it prevents the leader from fleeing as well. Mylena brings Margaret back into sanctuary and after some very creative uses of telekinetics and dust by Mak'era and 'insight' provided by Mylena the party is able to close in on the invisible Drakonian. Finally smiting him with all that we have to throw at him. During these last few minutes Dirst does a bang up job taunting the goblin reinforcements and preparing them for their eventual defeat as well. Lylia does a great job helping us wrangle the Drakonian leader as well until she forgets about the cloud of sleep which stealthily sneaks up on her and takes her out when she wasn't looking... We defeat the Drakonian leader, but he deals us one final blow when his dust remains explode dealing damage to all standing around him. We then turn our attention on the reinforcements. After some quick use of his threatening presence Dimak is able to convince the remaining goblins and drakonians that remaining would not be good for their health. After which we return to the village of Korsan to a hero's welcome and are given our next orders to travel to the city of Cornith in the northwest corner of Bristwald. When we arrive in the city we note the great castle in the NW corner of the city. 7/22/00 Once the party settles into the White Dove Inn, we are given a mission by Tolvas and Lodi. Apparently, General Staff is in need of a certain Dragon-scale bound book from Duke Percival, the ruler of Cornith, who also happens to have a reputation as a coward and a 'Mafioso'. Unfortunately, there was a slight lack of communication between Tolvas and Lodi and they both sent word to different individuals to get the book. Thankfully, we were able to figure that out quickly. As we begin our planning Lylia introduces everyone to a new member of the party, Syn a female Dwarven thief... err... Specialist in Acquisitions and Infiltration. Dimak was able to gain possible entry into the castle as another hired thug (or so he thought), but he did it at the expense of Lylia's attempts to gain entry via her 'charming' ways. As we work on our plan of attack Mak'era begins to question why we are doing what we are doing and says that she could gain access to the castle on her own. Indeed, her confidence is exemplary. However, she fails her mission, but acquires some good reconnaissance information about the castle defenses. It appears they have a giant, monks, dire wolves, archers and other mystical defenses. Do to Dimak's attempt to gain entry as a thug, he had to say he wasn't Matras Lamar, he fears that the party needs to disband so as to not cause his plan to fail and also so that the others can find a way in. Mylena and Dimak go their separate ways, the rest of the party leaves as well, but comes up with a plan to have Syn get a room and then everyone else sneaks in. Dimak goes to warn Lylia who is at the Tavern Chateau and while there encounters an invisible Mak'era who warns of 8 men on their way to the White Dove. As Dimak leaves the tavern he sees two of the 8 pass by on the road and decides to reduce their number in the hope of distracting the others and generally raising some rumors at the castle. Thankfully, Mak'era and her expert bowmanship are there to help. Dimak and Mak'era are able to take the two out and then head back to safety. The following day Lylia gains entry to the castle thanks to Adolfo, one of Percival's 'bodyguards'. He takes her to Percival, where Lylia works her 'magic' on Percival. She begins to reconnoiter the castle and learns quite a lot. During this time Dimak meets up with the now lonely Adolfo who knocks him out and takes him to the castle and locks him in a cell. Again, Mak'era is there and signals the others to come to Dimak's aid. Mylena sends a wakeup call to Dimak who gains consciousness in his cell. Dimak is able to get his magic items back thanks to Flick and begins to bust out of his cell. Meanwhile, Mak'era gets in and begins searching for Dimak. Just as she finds him, a monk and 3 guards enter and Mak'era takes them out. Dirst, Syn and Tandorin are making their own way to the castle at this time and they take out 2 guards and our friend Adolfo. As Dimak and Mak'era are making their exit, Mylena goes head to head with a castle monk and kills him. Lylia discovers Percival's treasury room. Dimak and Mak'era make it out of the castle grounds just in time to encounter two 'bodyguards' and several archers. Dimak kills both of the toughs and Mak'era takes out 4 archers. During this time Dirst and Syn make it to the castle wall, unfortunately so does the giant... Dirst hits the giant while shouting "Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum ouch my bum!" Tandorin gets hit by the giant, as does Mak'era. Dirst comes to Tandorin's rescue who happens to be on the fast road to death, and Mak'era hypnotizes the giant thus ending our struggle with him. She then takes out 2 dire wolves and 4 guards with her color spray and arrows. As the party retreats back to the relative safety of the city, Mak'era takes out 2 more archers and Lylia gets shown out through a secret entrance from the castle to the Chateau. Thanks to her 'special abilities' she is able to remember her way. Mak'era leaves the giant "George" with a post-hypnotic suggestion to meet her behind the castle tomorrow at noon. |
