6/6/03    As the party continues their journey down the corridor, they have to contend with Makera's "episode" while she struggles with her claustrophobia. We continue to move forward, but Mylina begins to notice that the ground has less and less dust covering it as if the ancient passageway had be traversed in recent weeks. As we come to a halt, Mylina "turns on" her senses to see if she can find any secret doors or such. Right then she notices a magic field that fills the tunnel from floor to ceiling!

Mylina suggests going ectoplasmic and slipping around the barrier by going through the wall to the other side of the barrier. She does so and discovers that the "barrier" is actually a powerful illusion of the end of a hallway. She returns and tells us about it. She than turns solid and walks through the barrier slowly and carefully we follow her.

We then continue down the tunnel, and Dimak sends Flick forward to investigate, but he becomes very agitated and worried and Dimak calls him back. As we approach the apparent end of the hallway, we hear the dragon move, realize that he is right around the corner.

Rask gives us all a blessing, and Dimak surrounds himself with a force shield and looks around the corner. It's a giant red dragon! Dimak was able to see a quick glimpse of the chamber and noticed it was lined with torches. He gets the idea to tap into the power of the gem and use it to boost his capabilities enough that he can hopefully grab the torch fires and create a massive fireball. We have all been affected by dragon fear except Rask, and he believes there may not be a dragon there. As Dimak concentrates, Rask calls to Moridan for guidance and asks for a sign if the dragon is truly there. Our torch flares brightly for a second. Dimak successfully condenses the torch fires into a 3' diameter real fireball. Suddenly, a few members in the party hear footsteps of someone moving toward the party.

Mylina puts up her inertial barrier in the hope that this will slow them down enough and protect us. The others draw swords. At that moment two draconians run around the corner, and almost right into Dimak. One of them in there surprise drops a wand, and the others casts arcane bolt straight at Dimak. Thankfully his force shield helps to protect him, and he is able to maintain concentration on the fireball which Dimak now sends flying toward the draconians.

Makera fires an icebolt arrow at one of them through the inertial barrier as the other draconian summons darkness to surround us. At that moment the fireball hits its mark and both draconians are badly damaged. Thankfully Mylina's barrier protects us enough that we are only mildly damaged by the blast. Makera's arrow finds its mark and disposes of one of the draconians. Illian, Mylina and Tandorin try to strike one through the darkness, but they fail to do any damage. Makera's swift second arrow strike is able to dust the remaining draconian. Dimak remembering the danger of draconians quickly pushes everyone back down the hall just as the two piles of dust explode.

Lylia, who had been able to grab the dropped wand holds onto it to give to Makera for future analysis, however Makera has now gotten worse, and Rask and Tandorin take it upon themselves to knock her out for her and our own good. Rask now carrying Makera attempts to get out past the dragon which he firmly believes doesn't exist, but soon detects 4 more draconians at the end of the second tunnel, and returns. During this time members of the party begin to successfully shrug off the illusion having seen Rask's emolation, but he returns safely explaining that it is an illusion. Eventually we are all able to recover except for Tandorin who begins to panic and pulls a knife on Rask. Dimak steps forward and hypnotizes Tandorin and "persuades" him that everything is ok.

The party then moves into the cavern where the "dragon" is and Dimak notices a desk and goes to it. On top of the desk is a figurine of a dragon and a small box with a lid. Dimak notices the figurine and dragon are moving the same and puts the figurine in the box and shuts the lid. The dragon then vanishes, and we begin trying to figure out how to get out.

There is the corridor with the sentries, or another door in the room. Illian goes to the door and detects a needle trap on the lock just as it fires and he steps aside. Taking out a couple small sticks he jams the lock, and begins repeatedly setting off the trap. After the trap exhausts itself. Lylia steps forward and deftly picks the lock and opens the door. Unfortunately for Illian, Lylia and Rask who are standing in front of the door, there is a wizard inside with a wand who fires ice bolts and hits all three Rask taking the brunt of the attack, and the other two deftly dodging, but still taking a little damage. Lylia slams the door closed.
