5/2/03    The backlash hit Dimak, and suddenly he was remembering something similar that happened a long time ago in a barn. The incident involved powerful blood magic that was used in some sort of ritual. He than realizes that that magic had the same feeling and could be the same as he experienced now. Could there be powerful illusions at work here?

Meanwhile, Mylina feels the backlash of power, and it causes her to stumble back a little.

Dimak than attempts to use the power to recharge his staff. It doesn't appear to work, but a second later the staff appears fully charged.

As Mylina recovers she notices a Draconian enter the main chamber from a side door, and seems to be looking around for something. Mylina decides it would be best to leave. Lylia mentions things are not right, and Dimak focuses on a nearby bush to see if he can see through any illusion. The bush vanishes for a moment and than reappears as it did a second ago. Dimak than asks Tandoran to pull out the anti-magic pyramids and activates them to see the affect within the area of anti-magic. The area appears different, but in subtle ways.

Makera, returning from the city surveys the area looking for any signs of illusion or differences in the terrain, but notices nothing to that affect. Makera than suggests that we go looking for writings within the city that night. We cast invisibility on our selves as two separate groups and make our way into the city. At the gate we discover the guards are asleep and slip past them easily. Once again Lylia's "sixth" sense is able to guide us through the city toward the direction of the temple district. We enter "temple row", and soon discover that the statues of the gods are actually human! Dimak tries to envision some passing Draconians as humans, but there is no change.

We find a "temple devoted to knowledge" and enter. A Draconian comes into the foyer to find out ho has entered and Makera hypnotizes him, and begins to question him about everything we can think of. We discover the dragon that sleeps beneath the city is named Borgus. Illian begins looking through the library at the back of the temple, and finds the most recent book in the library is over a 100 years old.

We also discover that the "dove with crossed daggers" symbol is the ancient crest of Arkland, but he hasn't been seen in over 500 years. Illian finds a reference that says "Arkland will come." Also in the book are prophecies of a great war, "flyers must die", the use of "old magics", and "the dark must meet the light." We find more about the crest and a reference to Arkland as creator. A number of people come as Markus our Draconian priest is sent away. We find a secret door in the back of the library and make our escape. Unfortunately, Makera's claustrophobia kicks in and she freezes. We drag her through the tunnel that heads downward for quite a ways and suddenly levels out. As we continue moving forward Lylia suddenly says, "There is a dragon ahead."
