Aricle on Richard
Bachler's FWB 124 With Jim
Maccarri Tyrolean stock+The Finish
The FWB 124 started out as a standard model that I bought at a
local gun shop that was going out of business. The outward
condition appeared as new but later found that the original seal
was in need of replacement. So a project began. A Jim Maccarri
unfinished Tyrolean stock was ordered. The roughed out stock was
outfitted with a butt pad, aquired from Mac-1 and installed by
Dave Thompson. Then many hours of scraping and sanding began. The
application of the finish started with two base coats of Danish
oil, then approximately seven applications of Tru-Oil. Bobby
Corcorran coached me on the application of the finish. Dave
Thompson did all of the interior work as well as the initial
stock scraping. The rear sight came from Mac-1, who happened to
have some used ones at the time. The front sight set came from
Beeman. The spring and seal kit came from the Jim Maccarri
collection. The kit included the spring, piston seal, spring
spacer (since his spring is shorter than the original) and
lubricants for the kit. The rifle chronies at 840 FPS with
Crossman 7.9 grams Premier lights. Now if I can get the rifle
operator to knock down the little animals......Richard Bachler
