Local Events

The Hill Top Motel serves as convenient headquarters for participating in the growing number of local events in and around Kingman.
  • Annual Laughlin Run - Each year, tens of thousands of motorcyclists (primarily Harley Davidson riders and their passengers) descend on Laughlin, NV; on the Colorado River, about an hour West of Kingman. During the last weekend of April, the surrounding highways and byways are alive with the throaty rumble of big bikes. If you enjoy warm, sunny weather, big bikes, and the easy rider lifestyle, then this event is for you. But be sure to make motel reservations -- as properties in the entire region tend to fill up quickly.
  • Annual Route 66 Fun Run - The "Fun Run" is a three day caravan dedicated to the spirit of historic Route 66. Many Fun Run participants have vintage vehicles, but anyone can participate. The Hill Top Motel, situated on historic Route 66, provides the ideal central location for participating in this event, but be sure to book your room well in advance. The Fun Run is hosted by the Arizona Historic Route 66 Association (www.AZRT66.com), and is typically scheduled for the first weekend in May.  2012 marks the 25th Anniversary of this event and it should be bigger and better than previous Fun Runs.
  • Festival of the Arts - Since starting in 1978, the art festival has become a "must-attend" venue for the works of  local and regional artists. The show features paintings, sculptures, and provides an excellent opportunity to acquire art from both budding and seasoned artists. Proceeds from the show benefit local students attending Mohave College. The Festival of the Arts is held on Mother's Day weekend in May.
  • Mohave County Fair - The Mohave Country Fair runs during mid September. Kingman is ranch country, so if you like a rodeo and would like to attend the annual Bureau of Land Management (BLM) wild horse and burro auction, then you should attend this event.
  • Andy Devine Days - During Andy Devine Days -- held at the end of September -- Kingman celebrates being the boyhood home of silver screen actor: Andy Devine. The parade harkens back to days of yesteryear, and numerous events occur at various locations in Kingman.
  • Kingman Cancer Craft Fair - A fund raiser for the local cancer care unit is held during the second week of November. This craft fair, held at the Mohave County Fair Grounds, features a wide variety of craft items.
