6/13/09 Fishermen continue to have good luck in most areas, including
the Pit River, Baum Lake, Cassel area of Hat Creek and upper Hat Creek.
Next update will be on 6/29/09.
Baum Lake/Cassel: Good hatches of Pmd's, caddis, callibaetis on the water, with pheasant tails doing best for nymph
fishermen. Rooster tails are working well, but any lure in a trout pattern should work.Crawlers and power bait are
still the preferred baits.
Iron Canyon - Latest report showed fish were biting well.
Pit River - Again, fishing has remained good with nymph fishermen doing best, rubber-leg prince a good bet. Also
some golden stone dries starting to show. PG&E is planning work on the dam on Lake Britton this summer, which
will close the dam to traffic. Pit River access with only be through the upperClark Creek Road access. There will
be short closures on the road between Pit 3 and the dam, however, no long closures are planned. Signs will be
posted on the lower Clark Creek Road access and at the Pit 3 road.
Hat Creek (wild) - Riffle is best fished with pt's, birds nest, hare's ear. Look for pmd's, caddis, callibaetis
with the warmer temps.
Lake Britton - Crappie bite on though the fish seem to still be fairly deep, over 10 feet. As the weather improves
it is hoped the fish get into the more shallow water. Smallie bite has been good.
Fall River - Fishing reports have been good with pmd's, rusty spinners, caddis for dries, wooly buggers and zugs
for nymphs. Hex hatch should start soon.
Burney Creek - Above the falls has been quite productive with lures and crawlers. Some nice fish being taken below
the falls.
