THINGS  TO  SEE  AND  DO



Living at Lake Almanor West,  or indeed anywhere in the Lake Almanor basin
means easy access to a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities.  There
aren't very many commerical entertainment options locally, but if you don't mind a
little do-it-yourself flavor to your recreation, you'll find that it's difficult to get bored here.
What follows is just a quick summary of some of the main choices available to you.

Within Lake Almanor West:

            •  Golf  ...  see the Lake Almanor West Golf Course  page for details
            •  Tennis  ... four private courts just for WACC members
            •  Swimming  ...   at the community Recreation Area
            •  Walking or bicycling within the development
                        Our paved roads offer several miles of smooth track;
                        do be mindful of traffic, even though it seems limited.
            •  Social Activities  ...  check the bulletin boards for upcoming events

On the Lake:

            •  Boating  ...  starting at our own private boat ramp
            •  Fishing  ...  available year 'round

In the Region:

            •  Fishing  ...  check state regulations for stream seasons
            •  Hunting  ...  check state regulations for seasons
            •  Hiking, Mountain Biking  ...  numerous trails and dirt roads available
            •  Visits to:
                    •  Almanor Ranger Station  ...  lots of info available there
                    •  Lassen Volcanic National Park  ...  just a short drive away
                    •  Chester / Lake Almanor Museum  ...  next  to the Library
                    •  Domingo Spring  ...  a stream pouring out from a rock face
                    •  Autumn Color Spots  ...  Indian Valley, Deer Creek Canyon, etc.

Winter Activities:

            •  Social Events  ...  arranged by the Auxiliary (check the bulletin boards)
            •  Cross-Country Skiing  ...  the woods are open for your enjoyment
            •  Snowshoeing  ...  a bit more work than skis, but another way to
                    get around on foot in the winter
            •  Snowmobiling  ...  motorized visits to the snowbound forests


The list could go on and on, but you'll have to decide what interests
you and your family.  If you would like further information on any of  the
local activities listed above, check with the WACC Office; they generally
know who is coordinating or familiar with particular activities.
