SPECIAL NOTICES

Fireworks are PROHIBITED !!

Personal fireworks of ANY kind (including so-called "safe and sane" types) are prohibited at ALL times, EVERYWHERE in Plumas County.
No exceptions !

Getting Credit for Our Efforts

The time and money that residents spend on parcel cleanup all count towards our annual Firewise investment. This includes both "routine" cleanup and post-fire efforts (e.g., tree removals, vegetation clearing, debris cleanup, etc.). Please keep track of your personal hours and expenses directly involved, and then submit those not later than early autumn so that we can accumulate the total community investment. One way to submit your input is via a Plumas County Firewise website form found at https://arcg.is/1ebvbL ; just be sure to choose "West Almanor Community Club" as your location. Alternatively, you can submit the paper form found at https://www.nfpa.org/-/media/Files/Firewise/Get-started/FirewiseVolunteerHourlyWorksheet.ashx . Just drop it off at the fire station on Long Iron Drive.

Annual Parcel Inspections -

CalFire personnel conduct the fire safety inspections of developed residential parcels at Lake Almanor West during the snow-free months. Inspection criteria follow State of California requirements, using the CalFire LE-100 form. The inspection form is found at this LINK. If you should receive a deficiency notice in the mail it means that there is something amiss on your parcel. Items to be corrected are identified on the form. Please address such issues promptly to reduce local fire hazards.

Need an Evacuation Checklist?

The mandatory evacuations of the 2021 Dixie Fire made it painfully clear that we all need an evacuation checklist prepared well in advance. A sample checklist was found in the Living With Fire booklet that was mailed to all property owners in April of 2021. If you need another sample to jog your memory, one is found in the Plumas County Wildfire Preparation and Evacuation Plan found at this LINK.

Staying Informed
Plumas County uses a "reverse 911" system called Genasys to send emergency alerts to telephones and cell phones of those who register with the county (go to www.plumascounty.us). Those emergency alerts are very brief and provide only the most essential information. A volunteer group in the Lake Almanor basin operates a public service radio broadcast station, intended to provide additional information when available. That station, WRTZ-707, is found at 1700 kHz on the AM radio band. When internet is available, the live broadcast may be found at www.Almanor1700am.org and at http://peridot.streamguys.com:5370/Almanorinfo. Other local items of interest may be found at www.facebook.com/WestAlmanorBulletin.
